Where to find it
- Scripted encounter (Lv. 30): Lake of Rage.
Talk to Lance on the Lake of Rage south shore after the Route 42 Entei scene. This is the catchable red Gyarados in the story battle. One chance: catching it, knocking it out or fleeing removes it; only losing allows a retry.
- Gift (Lv. 20): Celadon gatehouse.
Requires: Male player with Bulbasaur starter only.
Misty offers this Lv. 20 Gyarados during the Celadon gatehouse rescue, after her Starmie is wounded. Have a free party slot; if your party is full, speak to Misty again. She lets you keep it at the end of the Celadon story. Quest guide.

Pal Park: The wild table changes with the day of the week (by the DS clock). You get in through the Catching Show's Fixed Catch mode at the Pal Park reception ($10,000; bring your own Poké Balls). Sunday's table is the same as Cerulean Cave's, probably by mistake in the hack, so it also has Surf and fishing slots: the park has a pond and a stretch of sea.
Safari Zone: choose the listed area. Area selection unlocks during Baoba’s Sandshrew test, after his Geodude test. Object Arrangement never unlocks in this hack, so block-dependent bonus encounters are excluded. The listed candidates do not have a verified encounter percentage.
